Organ classes are back on Saturday 22 September this year! There will be Beginners, Transitional, Advanced and Recital classes in the Chapel at The Royal Hospital School, Holbrook. Competitors in the Beginners and Transitional Classes will perform on the two manual Hill Norman & Beard organ at the East end of the Chapel, whilst the two other classes will be contended on the iconic 1933 Hill Norman & Beard organ in the West Gallery. Candidates will be advised about practice times after the closing date later in the summer. Piston settings will be notified at the same time. We are grateful to the Suffolk Organ Association for sponsoring this and for providing trophies for each class and performing opportunities for the winners.  If the winner of the Recital class gains a mark above 90, he or she may be awarded two organ recitals in 2019 at London venues.  There may be two recitals for the runner up at other venues if he or she gains a mark above 90.

ADJUDICATOR Peter Wright  has been Organist and Director of Music at Southward Cathedral since 1989.  In March of 2014 the Bishop of Southwark awarded him an Honorary Lay Canonry to mark his 25 years in the post.  Under his direction the Choir has recorded many CDs and undertaken three tours to the USA and several to the continent.  They have sung at the PROMS and broadcast regularly on television and radio.  Much in demand as an organ recitalist both in Britain and abroad Peter has played in many prestigious venues around the world, including Notre Dame (Paris), several tours to Germany, and earlier this year in Australia and New Zealand.  In 2011 Peter was awarded an FRSCM and he is also an Honorary Fellow of the Guild of Church Musicians. He was president of the Royal College of Organists from 2005-2008 and is now a Vice-Presicent.
